Terunofuji completes Summer Basho’s rebound for the seventh title

solitary yokozuna Terunofuji clinched his seventh Emperor’s Cup at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament on Sunday, defeating ozeki Mitakeumi after the joint night leader, no. 4 maegashira Takanosho, lost to no. 12 Sadanoumi.

The great champion of Mongolian origin ended the 15-day competition at Ryogoku Kokugikan with an unbeaten run of seven consecutive games to finish with a record of 12-3, a win ahead of Takanosho, Sadanoumi and komusubi Daiisho.
