Roki Sasaki of the Marines claims monthly pitcher award after a perfect start

Chiba Lotte Marines Roki Sasaki flamethrower won the pitcher of the month award for March and April in the Japanese Pacific League on Friday after an electric start to the season that included becoming the youngest Japanese pro baseball to pitch a perfect match.

20-year-old Sasaki, in the initial Marines rotation for the first time in his third season, became the 16th NPB pitcher to achieve the feat on April 10 against the Orix Buffaloes. On that day, he busted a record 13 consecutive hitters and tied a record in Japan with 19 total strikeouts.
