Greg Norman criticized girlfriend Hatice Cengiz on Jamal Khashoggi’s murder charge

The girlfriend of a murdered journalist criticized Greg Norman for his deaf comments which sparked international outrage.

Jamal Khashoggi’s girlfriend was furious with Greg Norman over his recent comments on Saudi Arabia.

the New York post reports Norman, who is the head of the Saudi Arabian-funded LIV Golf series that seeks to rival the PGA Tourweighed yesterday on Khashoggi, the Washington Post reporter brutally murdered in the Saudi consulate in IstanbulTurkey in 2018.

Last year the US government released a classified intelligence report that ended The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, was responsible for the murder.

“This whole thing about Saudi Arabia, Khashoggi and human rights, talk about it, but it also talks about the good the country is doing in changing its culture,” Norman said of the murder.

“Look, we’ve all made mistakes and you just want to learn from those mistakes and how you can correct them by moving forward.”

Norman was criticized for his comments and Khashoggi’s Turkish girlfriend Hatice Cengiz also criticized the golf legend, recounting the Telegraph in the UK the observations were “so painful”.

“Would you say that if it were your loved one? How can we go on when those who ordered the murder are still unpunished and continue to try to regain their legitimacy? ”She said.

“We shouldn’t fall in love with their wealth and their lies and lose our morals and our common humanity. We should all insist on truth and justice; only then will we be able to look forward with hope and dignity ”.

Amnesty International also criticized Norman for his “wrong and seriously misguided” remarks on the human rights situation in Saudi Arabia and the murder of Khashoggi, as the organization’s head of campaigns in the UK Felix Jakens said the tour of rebellious golf was another example of a “sporty wash”.

“Greg Norman’s remarks that the Saudi government’s brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi and his cover-up attempt was a ‘mistake’ are wrong and seriously misleading,” Jakens said.

“Far from trying to ‘move forward’, the Saudi authorities have attempted to sweep their crimes under the rug, avoiding justice and accountability at all times.

“The regime’s human rights situation is an abomination, from the Khashoggi assassination to the recent mass executions and the plight of LGBTI + people, which continues to be dire.

“The LIV Golf Invitational Series is yet another event in a series of sports washing exercises that the Saudi authorities are using to clean up his blood-soaked image.”

Norman’s comments on Khashoggi’s murder came later Wednesday criticized the PGA Tour for “perpetuating its illegal monopoly” when it emerged that officials will not grant release to players to take part in the opening event of his Saudi-backed tour in London in June.

A few hours after Norman, chief executive officer and commissioner of LIV Golf, said he was given an extra $ 2.9 billion to fund events in 2023 and 2024 for the new tour, it emerged that the PGA Tour had told players that they would not be released to play in the first $ 25 million event.
