Paul Gallen wants to make more money from 30 minutes in the ring than he would for a full year’s salary in the NRL. Follow all the action from tonight’s hit fight card.

Heavyweight king of Australia Justis Huni – the only man to beat Paul Gallen – backed the former NRL legend to shock Kris Terzievski in tonight’s title showdown in Newcastle.

News Corp may reveal that Gallen will pocket at least $ 800,000 when he steps into the ring against Terzievski – and his payday could reach $ 1 million depending on pay-per-view sales of the fight blockbuster at Newcastle Entertainment Center.

If anyone understands Gallen’s bravery and toughness, it’s Huni, who was stunned by the former rugby league star’s ability to stand up in his 10-round transfer of the 40-year-old last June.

Gallen suffered such a beating that Huni was forced to retire from the Tokyo Olympics with a broken hand that required surgery.

Little-known Terzievski (10-1-1, 8KO) is expected to beat Gallen (12-1-1, 7KO) by virtue of his height and amateur career, but Huni believes the big NRL can prevail in what could be his swan song to boxing.

“I think Paul Gallen has a great chance,” said Huni.

“I didn’t fight Kris. He is tall and moves well, but he was stopped by my first professional opponent (Django Opelu), whom I beat quite comfortably.

“The important thing about Gal is that he’s a pressure fighter, he’ll be going forward all night and not stepping back.

“It will depend on whether Terzievski can withstand his pressure.

UNDERDOG EXPECTS TURNED UP BY CANELO

Kris Terzievksi vowed to pull off a reversal in a style similar to Dmitry Bivol’s against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez last weekend.

Bivol was an $ 8 underdog, but he dominated boxing’s biggest star with a defensive counter-punch masterclass, which is what Terzievki intends to field against the aggressive Gallen.

“I saw the Canelo-Bivol fight and I saw similarities, they wanted to test Bivol under the bright lights, its biggest stage was the Canelo show, just like these guys are doing the Gal show,” Terzievki said.

“I was very impressed with the way he stuck to a game plan and didn’t try to box out of himself, so I’m trying to do something similar.

“I have a great game plan, I believe in my abilities and that’s what will push me over the edge.

“He has that tenacity, it’s about controlling chaos. He’ll bring it, and if I can stay calm under that fire, I feel like I’m going to have a very, very good night.

“Being on the bigger stage is also a financial incentive, if I win I can help my mother, my family, myself. These things are inspiring me, but in the end I want to do the best I can ”.
