Our Western identity is the subject of an “evil” assault: Douglas Murray

The elimination of heroic historical figures from “anti-Westerners” is nothing more than an “evil” assault on the very foundations of identity and the right to feel proud of one’s history, says author Douglas Murray.

Mr. Murray said that people who “hate” the West think that history “begins with them” and only they know what is right and what is wrong.

“These people are obviously doing something very, very wicked: they know that if they eliminate Churchill they will eliminate Britishness on a very fundamental level,” Mr. Murray told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

“They’ve eliminated Jefferson and Lincoln, they’ve eliminated America – it’s nothing but an assault on the very foundations of our identity and our right to be proud of our own history.”
