“Winter Won’t Give Up”: Rare May Snowstorm Turns Idaho Into Winter Wonderland

An unexpected May snowstorm turned parts of Idaho into a winter wonderland on Monday, May 9, as the National Weather Service reported one of the snowiest May on record. This footage, posted on Facebook by Margie Pulver Cook, shows several inches of snow near her home in Cascade, a small town in western Idaho. “Yes, this is May 9,” Cook says in the footage. “This is what we woke up to … Winter doesn’t want to give up,” she added. Other social media posts in the area have recorded up to 6 inches of snow. Local media said any significant snowfall was a “rare occurrence” for this time of year.
